NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme for all eligible Australians. Around 4.3 million Australians have a disability. Within the next five years, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will provide more than $22 billion in funding per annum to an estimated 500,000 Australians who have a permanent and significant disability. For many people, it will be the first time they receive the disability support they need.
Not only this, but the NDIS provides information about connections and services in the community. This includes doctors, clubs, support groups, service providers, libraries, and schools.
This insurance scheme has been introduced progressively across all states and territories. It rightfully provides support to eligible people with intellectual, physical, sensory, psychosocial, and cognitive disabilities. It even provides help for eligible children with a developmental delay. The scheme gives an assurance to all Australians that they will get the support they need.
NDIS supports eligible Australians between the ages of 7 to 65 with a permanent or significant disability. The NDIS pays for disability support and services to help people participate in the community and reach their goals. Participants do not have to pay any fees. This is so all people with disabilities and their families can get the support they need.
The NDIS funds ‘reasonable and necessary support’ to help participants achieve their goals and live a full and independent life. These supports will be based on the participant’s individual needs and are designed to help them take part in everyday activities.
Support may be related to education, employment, social participation, independence, living arrangements, and health and wellbeing. This helps participants with assistance for personal care, get the aid and equipment they need, and overall be independent. This support also includes different kinds of services and therapies like physiotherapy, speech therapy, or occupational therapy.
This scheme works with that section of society who need help to identify and support their need of achieving goals in their life. This includes education, employment, community, health, and wellbeing. It’s a customized plan which provides the participant with a greater choice and control over how and when they can receive their support. The NDIS ensures that you get needed, planned, and promised support over your lifetime.
Currently, the NDIS is available in all states and territories, especially QLD and NSW.
